Asamoah Gyan Raises $41,400 From Selling Six Copies of his ‘LeGYANdary ’ Book

Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan raised a whopping amount of U.S $41,600 from selling just the first six copies of his book title, LeGYANdary.

The legendary Ghanaian forward finally launched his much-anticipated book at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra on Saturday, April 30. The autobiography chronicles the former Sunderland forward’s early days and his rise to fame.

The first copy was handed to Ghana President Akufo-Ado, the special guest of honour, who officially launched the book. The second copy of Asamoah Gyan’s ‘LeGyandary’ was therefore bought for GHS100,000 ($13, 158) by business tycoon Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong.

Popular Ghanaian lawmaker Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, bought the third copy for the same GHS100,000 ($13, 158). Businessman, freedom Jacob Ceasar paid U.S $ 6,500 for the fourth copy, the same amount paid by Ghana FA President, Kurt Okraku, for the fourth copy. Politician Alan Kyeremanteng and Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer paid U.S $1,300 each for the fifth and sixth copies respectively. Key football personalities who graced the star-studded event were three-time African footballer of the year Abedi Ayew Pele, former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah and Anthony Baffoe.

Other African football icons such as 2001 African footballer of the year, El Hadji Diouf, Kalilou Fadiga and legendary Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor attended the event.
